to prevail. They implored Governor Okorocha to apply wisdom and harken to the voice of reason by re-instating Eze Ilomuanya as Chairman of Ndieze in Imo State, moreso as all legal remedies including appeal to the Supreme Court have been exhausted in favour of Eze Ilomuanya.“Everybody cannot be wrong in this matter including our Courts and the nation’s Chief Law Officer. We expect the Governor to do the needful and show exemplary conducts in this regard”, they opined.

Eze Ilomuanya stages back, FG,APC endorse him
A twist has developed in the long standing squabble over the Chairmanship of Imo State Council Traditional Rulers as the erstwhile Chairman, HRH Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, Obi of Obinugwu , has dramatically staged a come back to complete this abridged tenure. This is even as the Federal Government and the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo State have affirmed his return as Chairman of the Council.
This development followed a directive from the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mallam Malami Abubakar, SAN, to the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, that the monarch be reinstated immediately in obedience to the Court of Appeal Judgment ordering Eze Ilomuanya’s reinstatement. The APC Chairman in Imo State, Dr. Hilary Eke also okayed Eze Ilomuanya’s status as Chairman of the Council in his letter to the monarch titled “My sincere and unreserved apology to HRH, Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya” dated February 26, 2017.
The Federal Attorney General had in a letter to the monarch dated November 16, 2016, with reference No. PEI/CRD/3276/1/183, stated that “this Ministry has written to the Imo State Governor to obey the judgment of the Court of Appeal by reversing the dissolution of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and to re-instate you as the Council’s Chairman.”
In conveying this directive to the Governor, the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, Taiwo Abiodogun Esq, implored Okorocha to take notice of the subsisting Court of Appeal Judgment against the dissolution of the Council under Eze Ilomuonya’s Chairmanship as well as his motion for Stay of Execution of the said judgment dismissed by the same court.
“ I hereby request Your Excellency to be guided by the judgment of the Court of Appeal by reversing the dissolution of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and to re-instate HRH Eze (DR) C.I. Ilomuanya, CON, as the Council’s Chairman”, the letter directed.
On the heels of this development, the Chairman of APC in the State, Dr Hilary Eke tacitly aligned with this position in his letter of “unreserved apology” to Eze Ilomuanya. According to the APC boss in the letter also endorsed by his lawyer, Dr Ikenna Ihezuo, he regretted every negative publication he made against the monarch particularly those in Daily Sun and Thisday Newspapers of August 15 and 20, 2014 respectively. “These articles are false, malicious and contain defamatory and libelous information against the reputation and character of HRH Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya”, Eke stated. In retracting the publications, Eke averred that “this publication is wrong and without any justification and I sincerely apologize to Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, the Obi of Obinugwu and Traditional Ruler of Obinugwu Autonomous Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State and as Chairman of Imo State and South East Councils of Traditional Rulers”
