While speaking at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) which held in Owerri recently, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, stressed that Igbos had made so much sacrifice in the country to the extent that secession could not be an option.
Chief Iwuanyanwu who chaired the event added that the name Biafra was just an identity of Igbo people just like the Yorubas have Oduduwa and the Hausas have Arewa. He said that it was wrong to see the name Biafra as a movement for secession.
Also in his address, Chief Iwuanyanwu commended Governor Okorocha for taking proactive measures in seeing that militants fighting in some areas in the state were convinced to drop their guns and embrace peace which has made the state to remain peaceful despite being one of the Niger Delta States.
