The Rescue Mission Government in the state wishes to acknowledge with delight, the position of the Directors of Administration and General Services (DAGS) of the local governments in the state on the government’s concerted effort to check the ugly cases of ghost workers, salary padding and other forms of corruption in the system and their position too on the refusal of the Local Government Workers to receive the cheques for their MAY salary.
In a letter dated July 31, 2015 and addressed to the President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Imo State chapter, FORUM of Directors of Administration and General Services with Messrs R.O. Dike of Orlu LGA and Ayozie V.C of Owerri Municipal as chairman and secretary respectively, advised the Local Government workers to cooperate with the State Government on the step it has taken to address the identified anomalies in the system since such exercise is not peculiar to the state and not been done as a punitive measure.
In their letter too, the Directors of Administration and General services also called on the workers in the unified Local Government system to go and accept their cheques for the month of MAY salary like their counterparts in other departments.
Therefore, the State government takes the liberty to sincerely thank the Directors of Administration and General Services of the Local Governments for their patriotic position on the issues at stake, especially on the issue of the cheques for the local government workers’ MAY salary.
The government also wishes to leverage on the position of the DAGS to once again ask the Local Government workers to accept the cheques for their May salary since that of June is about to commence.
What the government is doing is in the overall interest of the state and her citizenry and it is expected that all those who love the state should join hands with the government in its innocent moves to sanitize the system for the good of all and to have a state of our collective dream, to the glory of God.
