Buhari’s visit to Pres Barack Obama was momumental- Okorocha

“The Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has described the outing of President Muhammadu Buhari to the United States of America as one of the best outings any Nigerian government will make to the US.

In a parley with Journalists at the Government House, Owerri, Tuesday 28th of July 2015, Owelle Okorocha said that the visit offered President Buhari an opportunity to meet with different groups such as Bill Gates group, the Madaline Allbright group, the NPI etc.

Governor Okorocha said that the American President, Barak Obama has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a man of honour and integrity and expressed the willingness of American government to partner with Nigeria in the fight against insurgency in the country.

“That gives us a lot of opportunities now as a nation to rebuild our working relationship with American government. The American government made it clear to us that they are going to support Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram. They would want to support in many ways, training, equipment and what have you and our President made a request that his concerns will be to rebuild the entire states where Boko Haram has caused a lot of damages and again to make sure that no Nigerian is subjected to an untold hardship as a result of Boko Haram activities. The American government has agreed to work with us in that regard and the World Bank is willing to assist. The Bill Gate Foundation is coming. The issues of polio were discussed immensely and I want to request here that Imo state is polio free and we must maintain that.”

He used the forum to charge all the traditional rulers to make sure that every child of age is immunized against the deadly disease called polio.
Owelle Rochas Okorocha noted that the relationship between President Obama and President Muhammadu Buhari was quite usual; pointing out that the governors who accompanied president Buhari to the visit took the advantage to make contacts that would enable them develop their various states.
“The Nigeria community there are very happy with the new government, the government of change, it is obvious that the character of our president has attracted a lot of respect for Nigeria, Americans is simply saying we have seen a man we can work with, a man that we can trust and they are comfortable with him.” The statement signed by Ngozi Onyeocha from the Government house read.
