The Nigerian Tribune reports that:
Governor Rochas Okorocha has stated categorically that it is not an easy task to defeat the incumbent in any election, be it local government chairman, governor or president.
He made this statement while addressing journalists at the Government House, Owerri, while preparing to address the people of Imo State since his three years of assuming office as the governor of the state.
According to him, incumbent had necessary advantage to retain his position, particularly the governor or president because security men were always around them.
Answering reporters’ question, he said money borrowed by the past administrations ranging from N2 billion to N13 billion, had been paid by his government, adding that the government was only owing N15 billion currently.
He appealed to the people to show more interest in learning handwork than white coloured jobs, pointing out that the state was losing N20 billion annually to foreigners.
Chief Okorocha regretted that since the three years he had stayed in office, the Federal Government has not awarded any contract in Imo State unlike some other states where Federal Government awarded contracts.
Governor Okorocha debunked allegation leveled against his administration that he reduced admission iof Imo students in the state university to make room for his scholarship programme.
