Following the recent media outburst and resignation of the former state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Prince Marshal Okafor- Anyanwu, the Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha has dismissed the erstwhile chairman as a ‘wrong investment’.
Okorocha, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, stated that the only offence, the governor committed against Okafor- Anyanwu was that the stakeholders and other leaders of the APC in the state had met and decided that since the governor is from Orlu zone, where Okoafor- Anyanwu also comes from, the chairmanship of the party should now go to Owerri zone, preferably the Mbaise clan.
Coming from the same governor who had about two weeks ago described zoning as barbaric, Okafor- Anyanwu maintains that Governor Okorocha is far from a democrat and speaks from both sides of the mouth.
However, Onwuemeodo also described the former Chairman as an ingrate saying, “For Okafor-Anyanwu to have gone to the media to cast aspersions on a man that could be seen as his political oxygen, further sustains or promotes the impression perhaps correctly, that most politicians have murdered or seem to have murdered their conscience.
This shows that Governor Okorocha has been investing politically on some of the wrong persons.”
According to Onwuemeodo, who dismissed claims that the governor starved APC of fund, the exit of the Chairman and others like him is answer to the governor’s prayers for the exit of strangers from his administration. Dismissing the rebuttal, the former chairman said that, “Government can say what they like, but every honest Imo man now knows Governor Rochas Okorocha for what he stands for.
He has been inconsistent with the truth, totally averse to due process and legality. The former chairman, who said he did not have any official vehicle as party chairman, challenged government to present proof of funding the party for the duration in question. SOURCE
