As Christians all over the world celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus this season, the Executive Governor of Imo State, and the Chairman of All Progressive Congress [APC], Governors’ Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, OON has urged all Nigerians especially Imo people to forgive one another and show love to all, like Christ.
The Imo State Governor said the Easter celebration would be meaningless if we do not demonstrate all that the stands for, which include forgiveness, love for one another, tolerance, hatred for evil, and appreciation of everything good. Owelle Okorocha recalled that, on the cross, Jesus told his father in heaven to forgive those who condemned him to death and also killed him. He died so that mankind might enjoy life in abundance. And he resurrected so that humanity could live a hitch-free life and achieve victory in all facets of life.
He said corruption, greed, killing one another, rape, selfishness, clannishness, or division were never parts of the reasons that made Jesus to die on the cross and resurrected, and urged Nigerians to shun these evils. Governor Okorocha said, with unity of purpose and love for each other, the Boko Haram menace could become a thing of the past by now and added that Nigeria does not need ethnic considerations to achieve greatness, but unity and ingenuity on the parts of the citizenry.
He called on Nigerians to pray for INEC over the 2015 election and also pray for politicians to know that rigging an election is an evil deed, and attributed election rigging to greed and lack of patriotism. He prayed that the peace, love, victory and joy which the death and resurrection of Jesus brought to humanity shall be the portions of Nigerians including the good people of Imo State.
