The Imo state government has promised to link Nkwerre to Orlu and other neighbouring communities to enhance the development of the area.
The Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha announced this during the verification tour of projects in the area.
Owelle Okorocha who was received by a mammoth crowd said no community in the state would be denied dividend of democracy as his administration was in a hurry to develop the state into a model state.
The governor who said his name was development and project his surname, said he was in politics to write his name in Gold and leave lasting legacies for generation yet unborn, promised to create additional autonomous communities in Nkwerre to enable them to benefit from the developmental projects of the state government.
The Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Nkwerre, Mr. Gab Anowai who observed that the community had never had it so good, said the 15kms rural road projects, construction of NYSC new orientation camp, reconstruction of Nkwerre – Umudi – Dikenafai roads are eloquent testimony that the present administration had the interest of the people at heart.
He appealed for the construction of Owerri Nkwoji-Umudi-Umuwala-Umugara-Okwu-Onusa Amaokpara-Eziama Obaire to link them to neighbouring LGAs.
In his speech, the commissioner for Land, Mr. Uche Nwosu who assured the governor of 100 per cent support from the people of Nkwerre, implored him to give Nkwerre a permanent secretary as the community had none in the state ministry.
The member representing Nkwerre in the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr. Obinna Okwara promised to contribute his quota to the development of the state.
In their separate speeches, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Conflict Resolution, Mr. Peter Ohagwa, Mr. Steve Asimobi, Nze Ngozi Anyaehie, Ugochukwu Nzekwe lauded the developmental projects of the present administration and promised throwing their weight behind the governor come 2015.
The APC women who were not left out called on the governor to establish a Skills Acquisition Centre for the training of their young women and construction of a market to boost economic activities in the area.
Highlight was crowning of the governor with the title; Ozoigbo Ndu I of Nkwerre by the traditional rulers of the area led by the Eshi of Nkwerre, Eze Okwara.
At Nwangele, the governor promised to award contract, for the construction of Owerre Nkwoji-Abba-Eziama roads under the state government to ease the transportation problem of the people of the area.
The governor announced this when the people expressed worry over the deplorable state of the road during his tour visit to the area.
He pointed out that already about 29.8km road had been approved in the area at the cost of N1,788Billion out of which N815million had been released.
Owelle Okorocha noted that soon the issue of bad road would be a thing of history in Nwangele as their roads would be given the needed attention it deserved.
