Hmmm. According to Pointblanknews.com, all is not well between Governor Rochas Okorocha and National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Osita Izunaso over the governor’s insistence that the latter is not a match for Senator Hope Uzodinma if he flies the APC ticket in the Imo West senatorial election in 2015.
Okorocha is said to be disposed to giving the APC senatorial ticket to an Orlu born businessman whose names is being kept under wraps.
According to a close associate of the governor who declined to have his name on print, “Owelle is sure that Izunaso cannot match Hope Uzodinma if he decides to seek re-election. You know the governor is from Orlu zone, so he wants his party, APC to control his senatorial zone. This is why he is shopping for s strong candidate to match Uzodinma. But Izunaso is still pleading with the governor to support him that he can stop Uzodinma. One thing about Owelle is that when he is convinced on something, it is always difficult to change his mind.”
The source added that Okorocha would stop at nothing to stop Uzodinma who he accuses of not seeing anything good in his Rescue Mission administration.
Izunaso who served as senator representing the zone from 2007 to 2011 is said to have engaged close aides and friends of the governor to support him for the position.
Reacting to the development, Secretary General of the Kpakpando Foundation, a political structure owned by the former senator, Barr.
Denton Ogbuehi refuted reports that Okorocha is opposed to Izunaso flying the APC ticket, stressing that no disagreement exist between the duo.
He boasted that the people of the zone are calling for Izunaso to represent them again owing to his achievements in his first tenure. He warned that the businessman whom the governor is being accused of supporting is not yet a member of the APC, as he would have to register with the party before standing for election. – Culled
