Few days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the time table for 2015 general election, a non-governmental organization in owerri, the Development Initiative for African Youths, Okigwe chapter has urged the speaker Imo state house of Assembly, Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu to declare his candidacy to Run for Okigwe senatorial Seat in 2015, immediately.
The group advised others nursing the ambition of contesting the 2015 okigwe senate on the platform of the All progressive Congress (APC) to drop such “inordinate ambition” describing uwajumou as, “the only candidate that can deliver the party in the general election at this trying period”, Adding that Okigwe Zone is a peculiar Zone that needs a broad minded politician like Uwajumogu to make the difference.
The DIFAY further described Uwajumogu as a humanist and a patriotic Okigwe indigene whose dedication and commitment to the plight of Okigwe people has brought tremendous progress to the Zone. Maintaining that its stands were not based on sentiments but on realities on ground.
Addressing a press conference on Friday in Okigwe, DIFAY zonal woman leader for Okigwe ,M.s Ugochi Anyanwu, noted that Uwajumogu had raised the bar in legislative representation and had, so far, “been able to exhibit rare political will and courage in his resolve to impact on the people of okigwe zone.
“DEFAY will in the days ahead be at the vanguard for calls and activities geared towards ensuring that Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu declares for Okigwe 2015 Senate. Any group or individual who has contrary reason as to why Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu should not contest for 2015 Okigwe Senate should step forward and engage us in an open debate, or on our face-book page(difay)’’.
“while on the subject, we call on all Okigwe zonal people of good will to put their weight behind RT Hon Benjamin uwajumogu’’, he said.
