Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Viola Onwuliri, has fired another missile at the Okorocha administration. She is challenging Governor Rochas Okorocha to fully account for all the monies from the federation account that accrued to the state since 2011.
Vanguard news reports that while fielding questions from journalists recently, she said:
“What we have on ground in the local government areas of the state is not commensurate with the huge funds so far collected from the federation account for nearly three years.”
She also accused the state government of misapplying or misappropriating the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, Sure-P, fund allocated to the state.
The Minister sought to know where the allocations accruing to the 27 local councils, totaling over N40 billion, as well as the excess crude funds were channeled into.
“The Federal Government has received complaints from victims of the recent flood disaster that the intervention fund it released to the state was diverted,” she said.
While noting that the state government had a lot to account for, the minister, however, said the Federal Government was waiting for Governor Okorocha’s explanations.
Professor Onwuliri said Okorocha had been collecting local government allocations and disbursing it the way he wished.
She said: “The Federal Government would soon compel the governor to account for the funds he collected from the federation account.
