DIASPORA SPOTLIGHT:- Engr.Nnamdi Anusiem: a story of determination.

The spotlight lands on our brother, Engr.Nnamdi Anusiem .

An indigene of Mbaitoli, LGA in Imo State, Engr. Anusiem was one of the 2,600 students who graduated from Wayne State University, Michigan on Saturday where he  received his Master’s degree in Industrial engineering.

Anusiem obtained his first degree in Mechanical engineering from the University of Port Harcourt.

In a brief chat with IMO STATE BLOG, he admitted that the journey was not an easy ride but  he hopes to serve as an inspiration to others.

“The cross over was not easy. I struggled to find out how   to fit into the society. Especially coming from Nigeria where I had worked for Chevron and had reasonable work experience, it was difficult.

In today’s global world, a first degree is not enough. You need to “gbala mbo” to be competitive. In the Engineering field the challenges differ, and I wanted to be armed with the education to face those challenges and work in an industry where I can use my education, experience and skills in solving potential problems.

Saddled with a hectic work schedule at a Plant, Anusiem stayed devoted to fulfilling  his dream as he burnt the midnight oil to meet  assignment deadlines.

On his advise to youths, here’s what he had to say:

The path to success is very tough and requires dedication and hard work. When nay sayers say you can’t make it, prove them wrong. When  you stay up late all night studying… just know that it always pays off at the end.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Engr.Anusiem intends to pursue a Doctorate Degree  as well.

We wish him the best in his endeavors .
