The Imo State Government has released a comprehensive list of projects awarded from June 2011 to December 2012 by the Ministry of Works.
Recently, some contractors in the state blocked the entrance to Ahiajoku convention centre demanding for payments due to them since last year. Even though it was reported in April this year that N10b had been distributed to contractors towards ensuring completion of roads before the rainy season, the contractors still claim they have not received a shilling from ndi govementi.
In the documents made available to IMO STATE BLOG, the Office of the Governor provides the names of contractors, their road projects, contract sum, amount paid so far and balance. Phone numbers for the individual contractors are also listed.
The Honourable Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr.Chinedu Offor disclosed that over time, more of such information will be made public in what he tagged “OPERATION FULL DISCLOSURE“.
Without further ado, please turn ya bibles to the book of Revelations …
So who are we to believe?
From what we see here, ALL contractors have received payments towards the total contract sum. We also noticed that there are some who have received more than half. Now that the rains have subsided, there’s really no excuse for any contractor to abandon his or her project so what is all the hullabaloo about? Who is fooling who?
Biko nu, if there is no sign of work being done on your street/road, DO NOT HESITATE to pick up your phone and call the designated Contractor to find out why their job is pending. It’s your right!
