On Monday, former Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Kelechi Okpalake went public to accept the invitation from the incumbent Commissioner for Information, Chinedu Offor to debate on the achievements of their respective administrations. It is note worthy to mention that Okpalake served as Commissioner under the immediate past Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim.
Offor’s invitation package was generous to accomodate any medium of Okpalake’s choice. Confirming his acceptance, Dr.Okpalake told IMO STATE BLOG that he welcomed the idea of a debate. On logistics, he deferred to Offor. “He will state when and where since he threw the challenge” he said. Okpalake however expressed doubts that the debate would hold since Offor was yet to acknowledge his acceptance which he sent two weeks ago.
A follow up inquiry from IMO STATE BLOG to the Honourable Commissioner on when the debate will hold was not replied.
Not sure what is going but we can’t afford to back down now. We are also suggesting that the debate holds anywhere but the state owned Radio station. That is the only way listeners will be assured of an un-sensored debate.
IMO STATE BLOG applauds Mr. Chinedu Offor for taking the bold step of initiating a debate. Now that his invitation has been accepted, we hope that he will honour his word and pull through with this debate.
