The thrust of the 2013 fiscal year in Imo state is geared towards a ratio of 30% recurrent expenditure and 70% capital expenditure in order to achieve the major priorities of government.
This policy direction was revealed by the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Development in the state, Mr. Nick Opara-Ndudu at the sessions of the 2013 budget defence of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) held at the Secretariat Complex, Owerri.
According to the commissioner, with the desired ratio, government would invest largely on infrastructure which has direct impact on the people and would boost the industrial sectors of the economy to create jobs for teeming citizens.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Callistus Ekenze advised MDAs to optimally utilize funds available to them and always focus on evolving means of generating funds for their ministries.
Dr Paschal Obi, Principal Secretary to the Governor who thanked the Economic Planning and Development Ministry for guiding his department, the Government House, to a successful budget presentation, used the forum to plead with the government to endeavour to expose newly recruited graduates to seminars and workshops for effective service delivery.
