Over the past few weeks, events in the State have left citizens with lingering questions. From the rumoured impeachment of the Executive Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to issues surrounding the delayed 2012 State Budget.
In a short briefing with IMO STATE BLOG.com, Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu wades in to clear the air. On the rumoured Impeachement plot , Mr.Speaker goes on record to state that he has no inclinations to impeach the Governor.
There have been several reported plots and I have lost count. Most of them, lies and speculations. Believe me, I have neither the inclination nor the desire to impeach the Governor. I think he is doing a great job and excuse his failings. He is human and means well.
Rt. Hon Uwajumogu tells us that the present administration has achieved a lot since its inception. From his angle at the legisltative arm, he disclosed that the House has passed over 23 Bills ….
We have passed over 23 Bills. I have worked deeply with this Governor and have exercised more influence than any previous or serving Speaker anywhere. When I look at dreams fulfilled, promises of Social projects at the core of our people’s desires and aspirations, on-going projects or those completed, I realize who matters most… the masses of Imo.
In response to our inquiry about the delayed 2012 State Budget, here’s what Rt.Hon Uwajumogu had to say:
The budget was passed in June. The House passes the budget when it’s brought to us. There was need to pass supplementary Bills first and don’t forget we passed the 4 year capital Bill last year.
Mr.Speaker ends with a note stating that every Bill passed in the Plenary has the Press in attendance. IMOSTATEBLOG.COM has requested electronic copies of these Bills and this information will be published upon receipt.
