Journalists in Imo State assured of conducive environment free of government intimidation.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr.Chinedu Offor has declared  Imo State a FREE ground for journalists.

While addressing members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State who paid him a courtesy Call visit, he assured that the state  provided  a conducive environment, devoid of government intimidation and hounding for journalists to practice their trade.

The Commissioner enjoined the representatives of media houses in the State to guard against what he termed the growing tendency of mercenary correspondents who come into the state to write sensational stories and walk out.

He equally advised journalists on the need to adopt developmental journalism especially as it affects the wellbeing of the people and advised them to eschew religious or political sentiments in their presentations.
