At last, the Imo State government has established the Imo Geographical Information Agency. This new agency is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Lands and Survey with the main priority of ensuring that all land documents and data are being computerised. It would also ensure adequate information on all the Lands allocated in Imo State.
Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mr. Uche Nwosu disclosed to Channels TV that the establishment of the agency was in line with the Okorocha led administration’s aim of tackling corruption in the Ministry of Land as well as fulfill his promise of adding new technological skills in all the state Ministries.
Hon. Uche Nwosu also seized the opportunity to debunk allegations that the state government was forcefully revoking Lands belonging to individuals in the state, saying lands were only revoked from land owners who have not adhered strictly to the Land Use Act of Imo state and Nigeria.
In the words of the Commissioner:
“….with the establishment of the agency, there won’t be anycase of missing files, double allocation of lands and forgery of Certificate of occupancy”.
“…all Landlords and Land owners in the State especially in the state capital will have to come back and register afresh with the agency so they could have a new database”.
Fellow Imolites, how does this news sound to you? Are we also satisfied with the Commissioner’s explanation on the revocation of Lands?
Kindly take the Microphone and speak up now.
