Imo State to hold Prayer Session for Dana Crash Victims on June 19th.

The Imo State government has declared Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 for a ‘Special Prayer Session’  in honour of the victims of the ill-fated Dana plane crash.

 

This decision was made known to the people when Governor Rochas Okorocha paid a condolence visit to the families of Hon. Ike C. Ibe and Late Professor Celestine Onwuliri. Ike Ibe who lost both wife and daughter in the crash was a governorship aspirant in Imo State while Professor Celestine Onwuliri who died in the crash was the former Vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) as well as husband to the Nigerian Minister for Foreign Affairs (State 1) , Prof(Mrs) Viola Onwuliri.

 

His Excellency prayed God to give the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss while he urged the relevant authorities to put stringent measures in place to ensure safety of the Nigerian air space.

He enjoined all religious leaders, groups, associations and indeed all citizens of Imo State to join in the prayer session to honour Imo sons and daughters who met their untimely death in the unfortunate crash.

About 23 victims of the plane crash have been confirmed to be indigenes of Imo State.
