A recent communique from the Government House made available to IMO STATE BLOG disclosed that artisans in the State have entered into an agreement with the State Government to help fish out the bad eggs in their midst. This partnership is one of the many strategies mapped out to fight crime and insecurity here in Imo.
When we say artisans we don’t mean Italian Mafia’s o! LOL! We’re are talking about Wood making professionals, Brick Layers, Plumbing Specialists, independent Furniture designers, Painters, Cement Carvers, etc.
So anyway, in the meeting with Gov.Okorocha, it was also agreed that to restore the Sanity in the state capital and its environs, handymen would relocate to designated clusters and market places and join in the collective fight against Kidnapping and criminal activities to help make Imo safe for more investments.
Governor Okorocha directed the immediate set up of a Joint Task-Force Committee that will liaise with relevant government agencies to drive the task of relocating those operating in unauthorized locations in Owerri city as well as keep the city clean.
IMO STATE BLOG.com also learned that Gov.Okorocha promised to provide additional locations and the essential basic amenities ( electricity, water and access roads) to boost their businesses adding that his administration would not relent in providing a friendly and conducive atmosphere for small scale enterprises to thrive in the state. He assured that further steps would be taken to attract direct foreign investments that will boost trade and tourism in the state.
His Excellency also expressed gratitude to the group for their support and disclosed that arrangements were being made to ensure that they undergo advanced skill acquisition programme in the newly established Imo College of Advanced Professional Studies (ICAPS).
