Chief Victor Umeh, National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] has described Governor Rochas Okorocha as an asset having successfully placed the party in the region of the progressives through his wonderful achievements within one year.
Chief Umeh who led other members of the National Working Committee [NWC] of the party to Imo State on a solidarity to the Governor and to felicitate with him on his one year in office, maintained that ‘Governor Okorocha has indeed made APGA great in Nigeria’
“We are indeed very delighted that Imo is presently transformed by APGA led government. What Governor Okorocha has done so far has made our party great and Nigerians are watch bewilderment the pace the state is being transformed. This a very wonderful moment for our great party and our joy is that we struggled with Imo people to defend Governor Okorocha’s mandate and remained steadfast with him during the court cases until he finally won the battle at the Supreme Court. Today, his emergence as governor under APGA is a blessing to Imo people”
The APGA chairman further assured Governor Okorocha of the party’s unflinching support in his desperate bid to transform Imo into a model state.
Earlier, Governor Okorocha expressed gratitude to the National leadership of APGA for providing its platform through which he actualized his gubernatorial ambition when it became obvious that his former party, the People Democratic Party [PDP] would not have given him such opportunity.
“I am very delighted with my party, APGA for giving me the opportunity to actualize my ambition to govern Imo State. You may not have forgotten that I am a founding member of PDP giving contributed enormously in its formation. The PDP denied me the opportunity to contribute to the development of Imo State and Nigeria. There is no gain saying that I was denied the governorship ticket in 1998, the senatorial ticket and even treated unjustly when I aspired to be the National chairman. When I wanted to be the president of Federal Republic of Nigeria under the platform of the party, I was equally denied fair treatment. But at last, I found solace and reprieve in APGA when it became clear that PDP would not give me a chance as usual and I can now beat my chest to say that I am an unrepentant APGA member”.
