REJOINDER: Why Imo Speaker, Benjamin Uwajumogu should be impeached.

It is very amusing that a certain “controversial lawyer”, Anthony C. Iweho has called for the immediate impeachment of the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable  Benjamin Uwajumogu.

The NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE newspapers edition of Monday 14th of MAY 2012 carried the Hilarious caption. The “Learned Lawyer” who also claimed to be a Human Rights Activist said among other things that :

(1) Honourable members of the Imo State House of Assembly are stupid and half baked.

(2) That Rt. Hon. Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu is busy accompanying Governor Rochas Okorocha to missions abroad when his duty is to make laws and check the excesses of the executive.

(3) That Speaker Uwajumogu is not competent to handle the Speakership position.

(4) That 22 out of 27 Honourable members should be recalled for corroborating with the Governor.

(5) That only 5 Honourable members are sound but they have been silenced and intimidated.

Ordinarily, the Media Department of the Office of the Speaker would not have bothered to respond but after going through the reported publication and after confirming that the so called “controversial lawyer” is the Legal Adviser of the NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE Newspapers, we have decided to respond as follows:

(a) The Esteemed Honourable members of Imo State House of Assembly are Professionals in their respective fields before joining the Assembly on the 7th of June 2011. There are Lawyers, Medical Doctors, Lecturers, Accountants, Priests, Businessmen, and Economists etc among our honourable members, hence people oriented laws, motions and bills have been passed. Healthy debates always go on at the floor of the Assembly Chamber always.

No wonder the GOMBE STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY Legislators visited the Imo State House of Assembly few weeks ago to learn the art of Law making. School children and University under-graduates have severally visited the Assembly on excursion.

Conversely, if the Honourable members are half baked and stupid, they would not be receiving their colleagues from other states who come to learn the art of law making, neither will students of higher institutions of learning come to the Assembly on excursions.

(b) That Speaker Benjamin Uwajumogu led House of Assembly perform three main functions namely:

  • (i) Lawmaking (ii) Appropriation and (iii) Oversight functions

(c) That Speaker Benjamin Uwajumogu is not only competent but very effective and efficient in his legislative responsibilities to the people of Imo State. The profile of RT. HON. BENJAMIN CHUKWUEMEKA UWAJUMOGU IS AN OPEN BOOK.

(d) That all the Honourable members are performing their legislative functions effectively and efficiently and that there is no division among them.

One therefore, perhaps wonders if the so called lawyer was mentally sound when he granted the interview to NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE newspapers. Otherwise, the unprofessional and uncoordinated words he used to address the esteemed members of the Imo State House of Assembly has exposed him as a half baked and unlearned lawyer with diarrhoea and epilepsy of the mouth. For sure, he would be invited to explain his actions.

At this point, let me ask; must the Ebullient and vibrant Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly engage His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha in a fight before the likes of “Barrister” Anthony Iweho will know that there is good governance in the state presently? Is the so called Lawyer not aware that should Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu and Governor Okorocha engage in any cat and mouse relationship, that the good people of Imo State would bear the brunt? TUFIAKWA, MAY ALMIGHTY GOD FORBID.

For sure, the Sponsors of “Barrister” Anthony Iweho are not happy with the cordial relationship (perfect synergy) between the Imo State House of Assembly and the Executive; hence they are now sponsoring political, social and legal miscreants to cause disequilibrium in the state through uncoordinated actions and utterances. All these are just attempts to test the waters. No doubt, opposition (and critisms) is the beauty of democracy. I say this because without opposition and constructive critisms, a government in power will not sit up. But the likes of Barrister Anthony Iweho are not Human Rights Activists but NOTICE ME CRITICS AND CRUSADERS.

We therefore caution the management of Nigerian News guide Newspapers to be very mindful of the kind of characters they engage as legal Advisers. Enough should now be enough.

Signed: Hon. Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha (FCAI)

Media Adviser to the Rt.Hon.Benjamin Uwajumogu

Who woke Ikenna Samuelson up from sleep?

From what we gathered in this write up, Barr. Anthony Iweho is of the opinion that elected members at the House are “stupid and half baked” and believes that Speaker Uwajumogu has no business accompanying Governor Okorocha on business trips abroad whether it is in the interest of the state or NOT.

Mazi Iweho is also of the opinion that Rt.Hon.Uwajumogu is incompetent.   Moving on to the next point…

He lands a technical blow on the entire Legislative arm by suggesting that 22 out of the 27 members we elected should be recalled.

Drama Reloaded!!!

As we are picking up the pieces of the bomb shattered in this rejoinder, can  Barrister Iweho  please step forward with his response? I mean…this matter should not die like this abeg. Email us: imostateblog at gmail kpom com
