Governor Okorocha has urged our Traditional rulers to join the fight against Malaria. He said that having them on board would make the campaign community based as well as yield positive results at the grassroots. A memo from the Government House disclosed the following:
Gov. Okorocha who stated this in Portharcourt, Rivers state during this year World Malaria day hosted by Rivers state Government in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, urged the authorities to redesign operational framework in the campaign, lamenting that several efforts made by Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), World Health Organisation (WHO) and Federal Ministry of Education among others to roll-back malaria in Nigeria have failed owing to ignorance and lack of proper sensitization at the grassroots.
He expressed optimism that campaign against malaria at the rural areas with proper education on the need to ensure clean environments will go a long way to yield the desired result.
