Rt.Hon.Benjamin Uwajumogu calls for geometric development of Imo State.

The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu has charged Imo Leaders especially the political elites and industrialists to see themselves as key players in the socio-economic development of the State as well as change agents for fostering oneness, true love and peaceful co-existence in the 27 Local Government Areas of the State.

Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu who stated this in an interview with group of press men in his office enjoined the political elites and local industrialists including religious leaders to contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economics, moral and political development of the State.

The ebullient Speaker assured of government’s commitment to providing dividends of democracy to the people, stressing that his recent foreign trip with Governor Okorocha to Kosovo, England and other countries were aimed at inviting investors to the State to assist government in establishing manufacturing industries, hospitals, tertiary Institutions, and other projects for rapid developments in the three zones of the state.

“This Rescue Mission government is moving geometrically to develop the State hence we have invited foreign investors to invest in areas of interest. Within the next few months the State will witness total industrialization and transformation. But the political elites and local industrialists should show more commitment in assisting government towards achieving this goal.”

 

 

On the involvement of lawmakers in attracting investors to the State, the people’s Speaker disclosed that the legislative arm of government perform three main functions namely, Lawmaking, Appropriation and Oversight functions.

Conversely, attracting foreign investors is part of the oversight functions of the lawmakers. The Speaker concluded.
