Governor Okorocha attributes Supreme Court victory to democracy.

The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has described the re-affirmation of his election by the Supreme Court as a victory for democracy and Imo people.

Governor Okorocha who stated this shortly after the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] challenging his election, promised to continue with the people-oriented policies and programmes for the total transformation of the state.

“Imo State will be a model state and reference point in Nigeria as this victory has raised the bar of governance”

He enjoined Imolites including ex-governor Ikedi Ohakim to join him in developing the state.  “Ohakim should come back alongside with other people who earlier opposed this government as we will re-absorbed them and place them on where they belong because we know them and their
history” Governor Okorocha said.

He applauded the Judiciary for remaining the last hope of ordinary man while the matter lasted in Supreme Court.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso had described Governor Okorocha re-affirmation as the governor of Imo State as a divine mandate.

Also in his words, the Speaker, Imo House of Assembly, Hon Ben Uwajimogu said that the legislature will give all necessary support to Governor Okorocha in his determination to transform Imo State.

She added that the era when people will pay lip-service to Governor Okorocha while the work for the opposition is over in Imo State as Imo is now a family.

Also, Senator Osita Izunaso described the re-affirmation of governor Okorocha’s election as symbolic.

“It is symbolic in the sense that the day the departed Igbo hero is being buried another Igbo leader in the person of governor Okorocha has just emerged through this affirmation by the Supreme Court” he said.
