In other news, Governor Okorocha has been criticized for his absence at the Funeral oration service held at Zungeru in honour of the late Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Since it turned out to be false that Gov.Okorocha missed the funeral because he was detained in London (as reported by Ikiri Broadcasting Network), many are of the opinion that it was disrespectful for the Governor to boycott the service if he was in the Country. What if the Governor was ill? We often forget that our leaders are human and also have their low moments . Was the action deliberate? If so, what could have informed the Governor’s decision to absent himself from such a big event?
Chinedu Offor, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okorocha on Media was quick to defend his boss. In this response to IMO STATE BLOG, he sets the record straight.
“His Excellency does not play politics with the death of Igbo leader Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu or join issues with those attempting to score cheap points.
It is on record that no one living or dead has honored our late hero as Governor Okorocha has done by dedicating the entire Concorde Boulevard comprising the Heroes Square, the Ikemba Ojukwu Convention Center, The Heroes Villa, and the Hall of Fame to the memory of Eze Igbo Gburugburu.
Imo is also the first state in the South East that will receive the body of Ikemba with a number of activities to honor him. So please, let us respect our late icon and cease playing politics with his burial.
