Last week, Governor Okorocha presented the Budget of Rescue to the House of Assembly. Part of the N174 Billion naira budget will go towards the transfer of the Imo State University to Ogboko, Ideato L.G.A .
As we all know, aside from Ogboko being the Governor’s hometown, it is also where the Rochas College is located.
Na kwa cheki…
Reacting to the Governor’s proposal, the former member representing Aboh Mbaise in Imo House of Assembly, Hon. Aleze Okey Emeziem described the move as an aberration and neglect for the rule of law adding that Imo State University was statutorily sited in Owerri zone. According to him, Imo State University was statutorily structured as a multiple campus university and that was why when Achike Udenwa came on board, he was able to move the medical school to Orlu zone and as well moved the Engineering school to Okigwe zone.
In a recent interview with Vanguard news paper, Commissioner for Information, Dr.Obinna Duruji applauded the planned relocation of Imo State University, Owerri, to the governor’s country home, Ogboko in Ideato South local council area.
He insisted that there was nothing wrong in transferring IMSU to Ogboko, adding that some governors did it in the past and it won’t be out of tune if this administration moves the institution to Ogboko, a more spacious and serene environment for learning and teaching.
Na wa o. So, where do we go from here?
