Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has charged the people of the state to make peace and reconcile with one another in forgiveness.
Governor Okorocha who declared 2012, a year of praise and progress for the state during a thanksgiving church service / reception at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ogboko in Ideato South LGA of the state,noted that a great development and attitudinal changes have taken place in the state which call for giving praises to Almighty God.
He noted that peace and forgiveness are vital steps every good Christian needs to start the New Year well and urged everybody including politicians in the state to consider it as the best option to move the state forward.
He said that his emergence as governor of the state was divinely arranged by God, and reassured his commitment to serve Imolites sincerely and vowed to give accountability to Almighty God whom he said conducted Imo gubernatorial election last April.
Governor Okorocha enjoined his kinsmen in Ideato to make judicious use of the opportunity they have and advised those who indulge in kidnapping and robbery as means of livelihood to turn a new leaf, disclosed that government has concluded arrangement to make the crime a history.
In his sermon, the Bishop of Orlu Catholic Diocese, Bishop Augustine Ukwuoma advised Christians to imbibe the spirit of thanksgiving to appreciate God’s goodness over their lives.
Bishop Ukwuoma commended governor Okorocha for his developmental achievements in the state within his six months in office and his honest leadership style which he noted has restored people’s trust and confidence in government of Imo state.
He enjoined members of enlarged Executive Council and others who are working with the governor to support him in all honesty and not to sabotage his efforts or advise him wrongly.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Maxwell Ogo recalled that zoning on governorship and 2nd term tenure system in the state were broken to rescue the state and urged Ideato people not to complain of being marginalized but give their support to their son, governor Okorocha.
The National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh described the party as Igbo people’s party, where the voices of the people have always being endorsed by God.
Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state thanked Ideato people for organizing a grand reception for governor Okorocha, which he identified as a mark of recognition and respect and enjoined them to support him with prayers and good advice.
